How to turn Twitch streams into TikToks, Shorts and Reels

A stream clip for TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels takes three things: catching the moment, turning the wide 16:9 stream into a 9:16 vertical video with the streamer's camera still in view, and captions people can read with the sound off.

ClipKit is a free desktop app made for exactly that: for clippers who post moments from other people's streams, and for streamers clipping their own. Here's the whole loop.

  1. 1

    Install ClipKit and sign in

Download ClipKit from clipkit.net for Windows or Linux and sign in with Twitch, Kick, Google or Discord. Signing in with Twitch lets ClipKit import the channels you follow.

  2. 2

    Pick your streamers and watch

Home shows which of your streamers are live. Open one, or several side by side in the Viewer. ClipKit plays Twitch and Kick streams without ads, and keeps the last few minutes of each so nothing is missed.

  3. 3

    Clip the moment

When something happens, press Clip: the last 30 seconds are saved (anything from 15 seconds to 2 minutes, in Settings). Watching the same moment from several streamers? Clip all their POVs at once, lined up to the same second. For something that already happened, paste the VOD or clip link instead, or a video from YouTube, X, Instagram, TikTok and most other sites.

  4. 4

    Make it vertical

The clip opens in the Editor as a 9:16 video. ClipKit's AI finds the streamer's facecam and stacks it above the gameplay, and remembers where it is for that streamer next time. Move or resize either part if you want.

  5. 5

    Add captions

Captions are made automatically and timed to each word. Fix any word, choose how many words show at once, pick a font and style, or apply a saved template.

  6. 6

    Render and post

Press Render. Each account you post to gets its own version, in its own style, in its own folder: a 1080×1920 video ready for TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels. Posting straight from ClipKit is coming soon; today you upload the file yourself, so you choose the title, sounds and timing.
